Illinois Government

Illinois, like every other state in the US, has a government that is responsible for the welfare of its citizens. The Illinois government is composed of three branches: the executive, legislative, and judicial.

The executive branch is headed by the Governor of Illinois, who is elected every four years. The current governor is J.B. Pritzker, who was elected in 2018. The governor is responsible for carrying out the laws of Illinois and has the power to veto legislation passed by the Illinois General Assembly.

The legislative branch of the government is the Illinois General Assembly, which consists of the Illinois House of Representatives and the Illinois Senate. The General Assembly is responsible for passing laws in Illinois.

The judicial branch of the Illinois government is the Illinois Supreme Court, which is the highest court in the state. The Illinois Supreme Court is responsible for interpreting Illinois law.

The Government has several agencies and departments that are responsible for specific areas of Illinois life. These agencies and departments include the Department of Transportation, the Department of Corrections, and the Department of Human Services.

The Government also has several boards and commissions that advise the state on various issues. These boards and commissions include the State Board of Education, the Commerce Commission, and the Illinois Gaming Board.

Illinois is a great state to live in, and its government is responsible for the safety and well-being of its citizens. If you have any questions about the government, please contact your local Illinois government office.
